Our Classy Corner Suite, perfect for families is our largest on property. Everything you need including a separate bedroom and kitchenette. Fun trivia on the name, these spacious rooms not only have 2 century old windows and original hardwood floors, but they were indeed the former classrooms on campus!

Meet our Classic King! This boutique king provides a perfect night stay with walk-in shower, 55" flat screen, Keurig coffee pods, microwave and mini fridge. Best part- views of the historic grounds and presidents house! See that ottoman in the corner? Perfect twin sized bed for the kiddo! We had the most magical weekend! As we continued to wrap.up renovations we opened our doors for our first major event! We went into full coordination mode for this one- from protecting our newly polished floors to dropping centerpieces we couldn't help but have a fun time!

So many of y'all talk about summers in the pool!! We are so excited to see the scaffolding removed and the beautification to begin! . . . . . From what we know the pool was an after thought and added to the girls dining room (now our Magnolia Ballroom) in the early 1920's, the earliest date we can find is 1924.

Local Art Gallery Wall For the Historical photos we would need to have a photo release from the owner of the photo and can use originals or copies. If you have a photo you'd like to submit all you need to do is email me a quick photo and details regarding size and condition. Local Artist? We are looking for photography, local artwork, paintings and drawings. They would need to be mounted or framed and donated to hotel on consignment. All we need is a quick photo of the commissioned piece, number of pieces you'd like to donate & the average size or your pieces. I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Today is #nationalselfieday! I know this location will be a MUST selfie inspiration for all of our guests! This is me-Mellisa & the first day I introduced this gorgeous project to my husband. If you've connected with us we've already met! I've been planning weddings & events since I can remember. Absolutely loved the story in the details. 20 years ago I would have been drooling to get my hands on a job like the Inn at Blackstone! With over 1,000 meetings, celebrations and events under my belt it has been such an honor creating this for our company. Counting down the weeks-we will be open before you know it! Time to get pretty! We have been waiting for the construction to change gears and get to the good part! This location will be the main courtyard for the Inn at Blackstone featuring tables, soft seating, fire pits, greenery, and of course an additional ideal spot for your special events.

Fresh coat of paint & the foundation to our main drive way are complete. Soon we will be getting all dolled up for our August 10th opening.

Last week's conversations= gallary walls. We are working on collecting both historical and local art pieces for 2 seperate locations. True story. Blackstone College for girls experienced several fires, the last on May 7, 1922. This fire destroyed the main building causing administration and supporters to rebuild a smaller version, as fire proof as possible, gifting us the building today. Recent studies directing the reopening date in October 2022, 100 years ago.

We just scheduled our tent consultation for both our front lawn and courtyard. We couldn't be more pleased with planning to bring this idealistic vision to life! What do you thinknis more important, lighting, fore or water?

Did you know Fort Pickett used the Blackstone College as barricks in both the WWII and Korean conflict? Recently, I found out during time with a local attendance decreased for the college due to northern parents not wanting to send their daughters to a place with so many strapping uniformed men. Ultimately low attendance caused the college to close.

Transformation Tuesday for certain! So many of our local friends have worried about the condition of the building. Amazing how nature takes over! This space will be the location of many first glances, cocktails, outdoor conversations, moring coffee and more!

Although the Inn is grand and able to host large events, we've carved out some unique smaller spaces too! For elopments of 2 - to intimate affairs for a couple of dozen we've got you covered! Book one of our 2 private terraces, the Acorn, or the front Courtyard Ro& garden tea room. The Magnolia Ballroom splits evenly for dual sided events as well.

Per this article from the Times Dispatch, she was claimed to be one of the finest and fastest growing Female institutes of the time. Did any of your relatives have the honor of attending school or part of the staff here? Here is some trivia from the article: In 1894 there were 20 students & 5 teachers In 1906 there were 303 boarders & 81 teachers. The fastest growing institute of its kind! In 1894 the property was an estimated value of $20,000 In 1906 the property was an estimated value of $90,000 In 1894 the average student paid $150 a session not to exceed an average cost of $250. Providing education, housing and clothing. BFI even had a work scholarship program that provided work upon graduation to pay back tuition. BFG believe in educating girls fairly in more than just the arts and language. To quote “Dishonesty in trade is evil, dishonesty in education is far more hurtful and our girls have suffered enough, far more than our boys” This building was founded by the church to provide 3 pillars of education: Thorough Instruction (1) Under Christian Influences (2) at the Lowest Cost. (3) This article was asking for a pledge of $45,000 to add an Assembly Hall, Library, Gymnasium, and additional Bedrooms that would open later in 1920's and still present today.

Playing around with a few mock-ups with our design team. These 3 renderings are featuring the Magnolia Ballroom, split for an indoor ceremony. This option would invite guest outside for a cocktail hour while your design team finishes the final set up. What do you think? Have you done this with another venue before?

Do you have any Lady Charlotte stories? Learning about the history has been so fun. Recently we've made some new friends and learned about the story of Lady Charlotte back in the 1920's. Her story shares about her rescue efforts during the fire. I can't help but to think what her heroism has created in the last 100 years.

Over the last couple of months our team has been focused on window trim, replacing glass and restoring the beauty of these old windows!

The project is really starting to come along. These are the hard pieces, plumbing, electrical work, elevators, and repairing these historic windows! Once we get through these pieces the fun will begin. Have you ever renovated a building before?
